I lost quite a lot of dahlias last year and Rebecca world was one of them great plant with different flowers each time . Your defiantly looks like Rebecca world @Nanny Beach . Fascination was another I lost unfortunately great colour.
Here are mine this year , I've still got two yet to open but next week hopefully Red Labyrinth and Great silence.
Thomas Edison - aka Mr Reliable I like to call it. Pots of Thomas haven't worked out as well as I hoped the wind/rain got them about a month ago they were laying horizontal with the top of the pots. Waltzing Matilda Some Unwins mix I've grown from seed . Not so keen prefer the Bishops Children. Edge of joy which I don't like but it keep coming back annoyingly Bishop of Dover David howard Jack Black . Best dahlia for me this year even after losing a whole stem of it to the weather , the flowers are huge.
This dahlia was supposed to be Dahlia Colour Spectacle (orange) to contrast with my purple monarda. Well, it isn't that so I don't know what it is. The monarda are over now but the apples are ripening and it happily echoes those, so it stays!
@Fire ... and very appropriate for you ... it makes me think of fiery sunsets or even of the colours of the flames of the dramatic fires in Australia the other year that my cousin's family were caught up in. The colours are amazing, more fluid than the camera shows, and show up beautifully against the very dark foliage ...... it's also very floriferous ...... an absolute showstopper.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'm looking for some very tall (6-7ft) dahlias for next year - in similar colours - russet/amber/reds....
Dahlias can seem a bit of a faff to lift or mulch or cover over the winter, but are such good value plants when they get going. The cut flowers make the best bouquets for friends, which always raise a 'wow'.
