My younger daughter has enough to do her for about a week for getting to work. She reckoned the petrol station near my other daughter's work had diesel, so if it does, I might get some [if possible] in case things don't get any better and I'll be back to ferrying her back and forth to work.
I've done enough 'getting up at 4 am' in  my life - I don't want to be doing it every day!  :s

Just listening to a gov spokeshaun on Radio4 insisting that Brexit had no impact on the HGV driver situation - in another breath, the same minister said that the gov were offering a limited number of temporary visas to HGV drivers from the EU to try to get them in the country for a short, limited period. Just at a very basic level, without Brexit, wouldn't the EU drivers be able to come here without visas and stay as long as they like (assuming they wanted to)? That's ignoring how many went home after Brexit. How can the man say there was no impact?

Son went to get car MOTd at a garage outside Bath, and filled up while he was there, no problems. However, all the garages near the city centre had queues and were causing traffic chaos. At least, more traffic chaos than usual.

Bath has added a whole new dimension to its traffic chaos.  The main bridge over the river is closed so HGV have a massive detour.  Local traffic is using the toll bridge at Bathampton where a lot of the road is only just wide enough for two vehicles, and in places only single track.  We were in Bath last week and it only took us a couple of minutes to get through at about 10am, but when we came back a couple of days later in the early afternoon it took about 20 minutes.  Traffic on the main road was stationary for at least 1/4 mile because of drivers determined to turn right down to the toll bridge and there being no way other traffic could pass.  Thankfully we were travelling away from the queues.
This is great news for the people who own the toll.  At £1 for every vehicle they are really raking it in.

The in-laws reckon they're stuck in Devon in their campervan because there's no fuel locally. I'm not really sure what the problem is with being stuck on holiday when you're retired and don't have anything at home to worry about though. I haven't had a holiday in three years and no time off since Xmas so my sympathy is limited. :|
In other news though I brought a lot of my tender plants back indoors last night in anticipation of the bad weather. It's nice to have the house full of plants again and I timed it just right for the drop in temperatures. That's probably the latest they've stayed outside too and they look great for the longer growing season. I had to rehome a few spiders from the pots but there's a lot less bugs in the greenhouse this year so they've earned their keep.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I just saw my first person in a mask on Google Street View. 😷

    Oh.

No, it's OK, my Mum's still in her sitting room chair. I shall be very sad when they update that one

  • I saw my first masked person on Street View today as well.

@raisingirl: You can still see old pictures from Street View even when they update with a newer one.
  • My neighbours came back from Devon yesterday said there was no fuel shortage anywhere. You know we chat about slugs on here, various methods of keeping them away, none of which I have ever found works,we delivered the Parish council leaflets today. There was a ruddy great slug walking along the top of a dwarf very rough brick wall, one on the stoney path. When we got back to the wall the first one had gone

They slither over my prickly coconut fibre doormat with ease.....they just churn out lots of slime and glide along.

The fox feeders next door are away. A hungry looking young fox looked me straight in the eye. They can put the guilts on you just  just like our domesticated friends 😕

It came up to me , looked me in the eye and, dear reader, I fed it.🙁
The neighbours tamed a fox, it became dependent and they buggered off on holiday.  I wish it would eat squirrel.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
