  • Probably because the actions of politicians and governments are part of everyday life whether we like it or not.
It's difficult to refrain from Curmudgeonly comments when we see the PM being interviewed yesterday in the US. I know he is usually described as a Waffler ( as well as other less polite descriptions ) but he really is out to beat all previous records on that score.Ā  I'd award him a Gold for his latest effort at the very least ;)

as long as it stays on the Curmudgeons’ thread I don’t care … I’ve had some brilliant news and I’m going on holiday tomorrow … so there šŸ˜

N.B. The plural of forum is fora, not forums
I just checked Google foran answer and both are acceptable with forums given as the plural form in common use. I assume this means it's actually wrong but enough people do it for it to be correct, which I guess is quite appropriate given how this seems to work in forums generally.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I've been badgering the council for 18 months to put a dog poo bin at the end of my street. I thought they were being reluctant due to budget problems or something but I finally met the officer in charge of dog poo bins today and he told me they just hadn't been passed the messages. :|Ā  He says they're happy to put bins anywhere and they go up within days of a request. He also said not to be surprised if people still prefer to throw the bags into trees.

Yeah - what is that about?

You'd think that forum, being very directly a Latin word, not even an anglicised version, would decline as a Latin noun.Ā

ApparentlyĀ  when people do the sh*t chucking, their 'reason' is that they were going to collect it on the way back.
    Aye right.Ā
The ones who don't pick it up at all say it's because the plastic bags aren't biodegradeable. A survey said [not sure how accurate it is]Ā  around 30% gave that smashing excuse.
    You couldn't make that up, could you?Ā Ā  :/

I was just staring vacantly out of the window while having a very dull phone conversation and I noticed a bloke loitering in the corner of my drive where I can't quite see what is going on. In the reflection of the car I could see his dog though and it looked like he was letting it have a crap. I'm almost positive he picked the crap up with his bare hands and walked off with it :#Ā  I couldn't see a bag and he wasn't tying anything up afterwards. I'm sure I must be wrong but you never know around here...

  • As we are being told that Xmas is now in crisis due to shops running out of stuff perhaps if the Dog Crap bags were garnished with tinsel it would save councils paying out for Xmas decorationsĀ  ;)
No longer a dog owner but why on earth do people go to the trouble of bagging up their pet's mess and then sling it in the tree/hedge or whatever ? It's a double whammy - plastic and crap. In those instances it would probably be better just to chuck the mess in the undergrowth without the bag.
It must be so infuriating for the responsible owners to see the results of those eejits.Ā

I had a conversation yesterday with a neighbour [dog owner] about exactly that @philippasmith2. She's fed up with it too. The previous day, I'd passed 3 bags 'hanging' on the hawthorn hedge just round the corner, all within about ten or twelve feet of each other. When I continued on my walk, I went round into that footpath. I'd only gone aboutĀ  twenty feet, and wasĀ  confronted by another large pile.Ā

There's a cable box just outside my boundary fence, with one of those signs on it about picking up.Ā  A few years ago, I'm sure you can guess what was sitting on the pavement about five feet away.Ā  :|Ā

lots of folks say Feb you ry and Wenz day, but it doesn't make them right.Ā
It seems that if enough make the same mistake, folk just give up and accept it as correct. eg OH ( an alphabetic character) and not Zero ( an numerical character )Ā  in telephone numbers.
