Morning all,  a bit brighter here today too. I agree so much hate in the world when will it end.
@Hostafan1 I wish there was something more positive I could say,  look after yourself.

    Good morning Forkers.

Bright and sunny here so off out soon to plant out some beetroot, pot up some babies and tidy up the pots which have weeds - again.   All that will keep the chooks entertained.

Moving the compost bins has worked well but Bess is not happy.  OH found her trying to kick her way thru a loose bit of fence by the gates when he left the potager after letting them out this morning and checking on his bins.   Need to sort that out permanently but first more hoops and netting to keep them off my PSB and beets.   Plenty of scope for pecking and foraging in the unplanted bits and the paths, not to mention their pen.

Not watching any news for a while.  Too depressing and makes me feel helpless.

Hope Hubby has a good day @Hostafan1 - ie no messing about and decent pain control.

Love your bee and that flower @chicky.  Must remember to sow mine next spring.

We have practically lived in B & Q last 2days,didn't get chance to admire the bulbs though. Hubby removed all the slabs from one side path, where the bins live, and a little lean to green house, where the sweet peppers are. It's 25 by 6 feet,24 inch slabs, they were sitting on a tiny bit of sand then earth. No grouting in-between,weeds driving us nuts. They weren't level either. It took him 2full days. Wednesday,he was out there till dusk at 8.30

    Morning everybody.
Cloudy and cooler today so far, quite a change from yesterday.
Glad you liked Chatsworth @Chicky, we don't go often but I agree it's a very special place.

I'm glued to the news from Kabul, apparently they've closed the processing place as from 4.30 am this morning and just hope to evacuate those refugees already processed and some of the military. The total so far is over 13,000 so I think we can be proud of the efforts of our military and civil servants out there. Not sure if the chap with his animals is out yet or not, I'm not sure if I approve of that exercise in any event. Do hope there's no more dreadful bombs. Shame about your son's friends' family Dove.

More weeding awaits so I'd better get on out there.

Son 2 rang this morning to ask if I would be willing to make salads for 40 at his birthday BBQ on Sunday. I had already offered. It's the day after the baptism of their baby boy so there will be family who are staying for the weekend at their home and in B&Bs.

I've been shopping for ingredients this morning. I'll prepare it tomorrow morning. Should be a fun weekend.

Hi all. Back to not watching or reading any news for a while. We gave up some years ago, and it was very good for the mind, but started to weaken during lockdown. Still refuse to watch any ‘news’ on the tv, ( aka tonight’s top story etc ) but got into the bad habit of checking the papers online. Thank heavens for this forum, lots to read, and not all of it depressing, apart from members struggling with healthcare and personal difficulties. Still better than the continual doom and gloom, interspersed with selfies of weird looking girls with artificial lips, eyelashes, and eyebrows like caterpillars.

Road closed this morning to it took me 3 hours to get to hospital.
Talking of discharge to care home, but as there are virtually no bed in any of them, and given his history, I reckon he'll be in hospital until it's time to move him to a Hospice

I was in the crawling line of traffic this morning and a small bird. ( sparrow ) flew in the car window and hit me on the side of the head .
I think I was more started than the bird was. It flew off again.

A case of bird brain eh? A bird in the head is worth two in the shed, as they say.
