I was bitten by a guinea pig about 20 years ago, I was in my 50’s. I asked the doctor if I should have one, she said I would have had my 3 jabs as a baby and small child (booster at 5) and wouldn’t need one, she said I could have it if I wanted it, so I did. Apart from that, my finger is still numb on the top where he bit me.

I wanted to get the booster for years because I travel to 3rd world countries a lot and also get scratched all the time. I think it's been between 13 and 15 years since I've had the last one, it was still with my pediatrician. Later, I've never had a decent adult doctor and moved too many times. I seriously considered it in the last 3 years but having social anxiety, fear of using a phone, and a bad experience with our local GP (not being able to get an appointment when I was worried about something), it would have been too much for me. And now with the pandemic, I wouldn't even want to bother someone with something as stupid as a tetanus jab. Plus my depression is back and I don't really care anymore.
Last tetanus jab I had was when I was 15, I'm nearly 44 now. My mam always seemed quite concerned about tetanus and likely we had as many shots that were available as kids . My sister was told after a garden injury a few years ago that a jab wasn't necessary if she'd had them as a kid.
I've just looked at this thread, and when I knackered my rotator cuff a few years ago, and removed the skin from my face, they asked me about a tetanus - ie when had I last had one. I couldn't remember, but like @steephill, I thought it was possibly as a child. I may have had one when I sliced my face open with a spade about 12 or 25 years ago, but they seemed to think it was fine either way, and I didn't get one.
@edhelka - I hope you can get some help with your health. I understand only too well about the anxiety and the phones, and the depression. Please try and find the strength to get help from somewhere, and don't let the pandemic put you off. x

I had an argument with an icy hill @Nanny Beach . I think I joked here about taking up the Luge. I couldn't move my arm more than a few inches in any direction. The physio was great though, and that was key, because without it, you never get anywhere. Although it will never be at full capacity, it was as well healed as it could ever be. I still have a problem with random things, because of the actions it normally performs, but the other muscle at the front [Deltoid?] is doing a good job of taking over. Using it plenty made a huge difference. It aches when I'm doing a bit too much DIY or lots of pruning/digging etc, but it doesn't bother me too much. Hanging washing out that summer was a bit of a chore - standing on a bench and holding that arm with the other one. No bother now

He had an argument with mud coming back down the South Downs with the dogs Slipped hyper extended left arm behind him, landed on hand. Sent by GP to fancy clinic, physio and dynobands at home. He was in the motor trade, unable to lift wheels, etc,had to stop work. Ironic,he's incredibly surefooted, have seen him many times on ice, snow, sea weedy rocks. Not quite the same I know but have had 3 frozen shoulders (waiting for the 3 shoulder jokes!)
I wrote above that I assumed, or as the doctor said, I would have had tetanus jab as a child but on reading about it, it wasn’t given until 1961 as general practice so I couldn’t have had it before. There are still cases now mostly from old people who’ve never had a jab. I wonder if these young anti vax mothers even have this one done, my mum’s friend lost her little boy from it. Very sad, it’s a terrible disease.
