The tetanus jab was administered prior to the water butt confession.
But presumably it wasn't administered because you'd hit your thumb with a big hammer ... it was administered because it was obviously infected with something ....

I also get mine every 10 years. Have had some nasty wounds in the garden in the past! I keep a note of when my next jab is due and then just book it when the time comes round.

They seem to be quite hot on tetanus jabs here, GP always checks to make sure I am up to date. One of the first things they asked me at the hospital a couple of years ago when I fell in the garden and needed stitches was whether I was up to date with tetanus jab.
I actually looked into this a few years ago for the same reason. If you have had a full course of tetanus jabs, no further boosters are usually needed. Whether you have had them all might partly depend on your age, and what way the school/childhood vaccination programme operated at the time. I’m in my 30s and I’d had them all, whereas my mother who is in her 60s had had some, but possibly not all. She just made an appointment at the GP to complete the course of 5.
There are still doctors that will routinely give you anti-biotics. It may not be either necessary or wise. I guess a similar principle applies to vaccination - some medics take a precautionary approach, some think it should be more finely judged against the risk.

All my recent jabs were given before trips on safari, war zones, or to other very remote places, I often had one each year. These were given by the local travel health clinic whose advice I think was worth listening to. Tetanus can often be fatal, particularly now it is rare enough so doctors can no longer diagnose it, why take a risk?
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I had a tetanus jab a few weeks ago. I just called the GP receptionist and told them why I need it* was booked in there and then for the following week. The nurse who jabbed me just checked my record to ensure I hadn’t had one within the last 10 years.
*I was required to have the jab by a local cat rescue centre before they allowed me to take in foster cats and kittens 😍!
I agree that it's probably worth keeping up the 'every ten years' schedule as we all get cut and spiked so often. It's also probably worth keeping a clear record for future ref. (Mental note to self).
I've been told the same as @Dovefromabove, that I don't need any more tetanus jabs unless I get an injury of the type that's at significant risk of being infected with tetanus - garden fork through the foot kind of thing. I'll ask again if I remember next time I see a GP or the practice nurse. They have me in for routine blood tests once a year so that might be the time to ask if I remember.

I might have had one 6 decades ago when I was a wee wean but none since that I am aware of. Part of that may be because I was in a category referred to as non-attenders (i.e. male) by our local surgery so never got offered one. Even when I had a nasty infection from bramble wounds it never came up, just antibiotics.
