I never really looked that carefully at my hydrangeas before, at this time of year. Yes, there's new growth, ready to produce a greater display next year, but, maybe I'm just appreciating the 'old' this time around!
My neighbour on the street is a total newbie to growing she put in some seeds and few plants in the spring and it's been a wonderful success and is still going strong - into nearly-Nov. It's a south facing planter and lights up the whole street. The little kids love it.
We've got a load of seeds and bulbs to put in this week coming and it's exciting to see what will come with so much sun and tlc.
Can I ask a techincal question? I am not a serious photographer, but I do enjoy it and have a lot of plant photography from the last five years. I also enjoy making up photobooks for elderly garden-loving family overseas, as b'day presents etc. It seems good to keep photos on this thread under 1MB to make them easier to load (esp if there are lots together on a post). For photobooks the higher the res the better.
What protocol do you use? Do you keep the original large file and copy the file and reduce the size to share here? Coming to make a rose book I find my photos are all reduced but I don't really want to keep doubles of all my pics. I don't have a hard drive just for photos, and don't want to make things technically complicated. Thanks for your thoughts.

Even the insects are holding out against the drop in temperatures and strengthening winds, although they've wisely taken shelter this afternoon
