Are there any plants that you really don't like?

Plain, simple coloured gazania s are lovely. Stripey leery neon ones are vile. You need to be selective.

How could I forget... red cordylines. Excessively gaudy (and usually sick-looking) phormiums.

I must be an exception 😁 I don't hate flowers, only weeds.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

I think you may have something with that theory @B3 🤔 when I worked in the wedding gown trade I ended up hating the majority of them and don't get me stated in prom gowns....yuck! Vomit worthy🤢
So maybe we have the time to cultivate our likes and dislikes when working all day with them.

As a gardening “newbie”, I’ve loved this thread and googling what you all dislike! Very interesting!

It’s strange, but as a child I wondered why my grandparents wasted their time with hydrangeas and dahlias instead of roses….. guess what my garden is full of now as an adult?!

Personally, I’m not a fan of plants with thick, shiny foliage…begonias, impatiens, bizzy lizzies….now I think they’re a waste of time!

I think there’s something to say about time of year and when they perform and where sited. For me, I like that red robin and forsythias flush in early spring to signal the start of it all. The same with Pieris with its ivory flowers and red, fading to warm pinks foliage. Backdrop also plays a part. They’re not show pieces on their own, isolated in the middle of a lawn, I think they need to be mixed in.

Sorry Aaron, don't care where they are that red/green combination on Red Robin is just horrible.  Can't believe that I left the bane of my life off my list - comfrey.

This thread reminds me about people who reckon they're not fussy about food - until you get to feed them.
I'd insist I'm not fussy eater I'd say, but say someone offered me parsnips, anything with cream in it where you could taste the cream, courgettes ( I went off them last year) raw yoghurt , milky puddings -  I wouldn't be able to keep any of them behind my teeth.
I thought I was pretty easy going with plants but I find myself agreeing with almost everything on this thread. If it weren't for differing tastes, some of these plants would be deservedly extinct.

Hahaha  🤣 @B3 I royally agree! Reading other people's posts I find myself thinking...."of course! That's horrible,  or I can't understand why folk plant this! " my list continues to grow! It's easier than listing things I love cuz o love most plants,  they just seems to be an ever increasing number of things I don't! 🤔😄
