pulmonaria do nothing for me either

Would it be easier to ask what you do like? 😉

I'll speak up here for forsythia ... some of them ... well, one of them ... Forsythia suspensa ... pruned properly to allow it to be graceful and elegant and not hacked into a bog brush, is just gorgeous if given enough space as a focal point at the end of a 'view' ......... but a yellow bogbrush hedge ... no thanks.

There are few plants I really can't stand ... most have at least one variety that has something appealing about it to me ........... but I think you all know that I absolutely cannot cannot stand Acuba Japonica  (the Spotted Laurel) ... loathe it.

    Mahonia!!!!!!!!
We might have to agree to disagree on that one. I had to remove mine as it was planted about 12" from the path and no amount of pruning worked .

    Kniphofia.
Anything sharp or spiky enough to hurt if you catch it. They look unfriendly.
Any plant  grown because they can be, irrespective of whether or not they look good (eg. Palm trees.)

@WonkyWomble l'm not keen on the 'feather duster' type astilbes, but the ones with graceful, more open flower heads look good, but maybe not in huge drifts.....good foliage, not invasive, don't need lifting and dividing every ten minutes.....

Anything with foliage so pale its nearly white/silvery.  They look a bit creepy to me.

Think that's about it.  I am uncomplicated, green leaves, coloured flowers, I'm happy!

Nope. Any plant can be good in the right place/situation. Not all of them suit my garden but that doesn't mean I don't like them and wouldn't have them in another garden if I moved house.

I think it's something I've noticed from working in lots of gardens,  there are repeat offenders!! Mahonias for the ever increasing number of seedlings as well as their particular colour of yellow being vomit worthy!
