... I think your link quoted the EV points didn't it?....It was in the article and actually in your link text.
'...Data from Zap-Map shows that as of 22 May, there are 8,471 charging
locations across the UK, hosting a total of 13,613 charging devices. In
contrast, as of the end of April, there are currently only 8,400 petrol
stations in the UK, a figure which is continuing to decline....'
Ah... sorry Steve your right. I should read the data I link to

I may have said some of this before so apologies. My show off NDN, have had an electric car for some time. When it was on the drive it was permanently plugged in. Now they have two e cars & he spends time swapping them over so they can keep them both charged. But they also have a petrol sports car, presumably for longer journeys or maybe just to show of to their mates.
Are the EVs not to show off too? I mean you described them as show off neighbours so it makes me doubt they're about saving the planet as that usually means not being able to show off with ostentatious purchases. What model of EVs do they have? If they're Tesla then they're show offs about image and consumerism. Not that I've got anything against Tesla , much.
At our local university they've added quite a few charging points. If you plug in there you don't need to pay for parking. Can you guess what happens? You're right, no free charging points! Especially since they've been put into the parking spots nearest to the places people want to go. Disabled and charging points with all the other parking spots set away from everywhere except student accommodation areas. No good for workers.
EV technology and price isn't where it needs to be for wide take up. By that I mean the vehicles, charging points plus generation.

Oh how Did you guess 🤔 The first one is an Audi, (expensive badge on a golf) and yes the 2nd is a Tesla. He's an ex estate agent now calls himself a property consultant, works from home talks loudly on his mobile while strutting up and down. Older than us could have retired years ago but too busy making money. I think you get the picture.

Maybe there should be a big fine for parking a non-electric car in a charging point space. Maybe also for leaving a car there for long after it's fully charged, but that would be harder to do I think. I drive a petrol car, so no personal axe to grind, but as more of us turn to electric (and I did think about it 5 years ago when I last changed cars, but it just wasn't practical for me) there need to be some rules to at least deter the inconsiderate behaviour of what I hope is a small minority.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Very 80s style with the phone. It's not a Motorola brick phone by any chance? Mind you, anyone calls my mobile when I'm at home instead of landline i can't help but walk up and down with it.
A guy at work got given one by the company long before I worked there. He found it in a home clear out and brought it in. I so wanted to find a way to make it work again in the digital mobile phone era. You could get it out and put it on the table at meetings like everyone else does with their iPhones. A talking point for sure.
