Best to keep well away Rich B as AnniD suggests. It does sound as if they are being looked after though so hopefully a happy endng to the tale.

Yes he was squawking at me as he has been over the past 3 weeks.
Im leaving alone tonight, just keeping watch.
I wont leave the door open yet as he can easily enter through the gap above the door and i dont want what ever killed the mum to get in there
  • I used to volunteer for RSPB. The advice to contact your nearest wildlife charity is spot on. The issue is not the feeding which is going to be brutal enough & not something one single person could manage it’s that fledglings need to learn from another bird how to feed and fend for themselves, something we can’t teach them, but wildlife charities can. They look about ready to fledge but will still need an adult bird around for a little while.

Interesting. They do supply a link to finding a local rescue though

  • It’s good to hear that dad is back feeding the chicks and can teach the chicks to fledge.

Hi - can you leave food out for him to make his job easier?

Don't worry. Hes been in and out all day with worms.
My garden has various feeding stations a pond and i have churned up some of the soil for worms.
I checked the chicks earlier and they are boisterous and noisy.
i will get another pic next time i check them but for now they seem OK
