We are pleased to announce the arrival of the gatekeepers and now await the tiny brown jobs.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I've seen a few peacock ones,  some small white and one brown looking unidentified one today. Definitely less butterflies due to the weather. Less flying insects in general tbh.

Just large white (cabbage) here, as ever, but at least they have arrived now. All the butterfly plants we have put in seem to make no difference to that.

Maybe soon. Mine have only just arrived.apparently local allotments are plagued with cabbage whites. They don't bother me as I don't grow vegetables except tomatoes.

It's surprising what a spell of really hot weather brings, last weekend both in the garden and in the allotment there were lots of different butterflies, honey bees, bumble bees  and different hover flies, unfortunately there were lots of whites, different ones of these as well.
It was the same in the rear garden this afternoon, Roxanne geranium was the attraction for the bees!

Up to now we have had windy and wet and not very pleasant weather, so few flying insects, but once the weather got hotter and no wind they have appeared!

I’ve seen a few gatekeepers in our garden the past couple of days.

There were quite a few painted ladies at the Harold Hillier Gardens in Romsey, Hampshire last Saturday; it’s the first time I’ve been able to take a photo of one.
