I don't know butterflies but I saw very few until about two weeks ago and now they are almost at the same numbers as the bees.

It's lovely to see as I only ever saw cinnabars at my last place.

One red admiral clinging onto french marigold for grim death in the howling wind last evening.

Marjoram should be fully out soon .  If  the butterflies don't arrive soon after, there's a serious problem here😑
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Went on a walk today in a NT area above the Somerset Levels.
Sat for ages as we watched the butterflies....small skipper, ringlets, meadow browns and mostly marbled whites.
    Brilliant and the wildflowers also.

Scouting parties are visiting. Nothing fancy but welcome all the same. Particularly as I don't grow cabbages😊

Very similar selection down on the grazing marshes this morning ... plus quite a few Small tortoiseshells sunbathing on the paths, and several groups of Banded demoiselles chasing up and down along the river bank  ...

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
