My washing powder is quite smelly anyway.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I’ve heard of putting vinegar on hair and wondered why anyone would want to put an acid on their hair (albeit a weak one)!

    never
    Never
some people are talking about hair conditioner and others fabric. I do for hair, but not always but never for clothes. I do add a laundry cleanser antibacterial to the wash though. The scent comes from the liquid detergent.

I use 2 in 1 shampoo, which says it contains conditioner. I was staying at my son's last week, babysitting, when their baby was being born. I'd forgotten my shampoo so I used son's shower gel. My hair was awful, stiff, afterwards. So, to make up for it, I used conditioner for the next hair wash and my hair then went flat and floppy.

I've just put the washing on. I've only used half the dose.
    I'll wean myself off it.
I wonder if Hubby will notice?

I remember , very many years ago, reading an article in Which
They compared Calgon and Soda Crystals and concluded that Calgon cost 96p per use and SC was 6p and both gave exactly the same benefits in terms of water softening and machine longevity

    not really
I remember that article too, @Hostafan1, but could not recollect the details. I seem to remember reading that if you put your ‘Calgon’ money to one side, you could buy a new washing machine every three years.

I have found this thread interesting. There’s a tendency to assume most folk do pretty much what you do so I have been surprised that there is almost active hostility towards fabric softeners from some. Not a judgement, just an observation. I also wonder about reality/perception when it comes to hair products. I know people who get in a right tizz if they apply, or fail to apply, certain products or brands to their hair. Is the outcome of changed usage ever visible to the partner who sees the hair every day, I wonder. I suspect not.

I used to buy Apple shampoo from Sainsbury's . £1 a litre and folk often commented how great my hair was.
Now it's grey, but it still gets compliments. I use whatever I find cheap in pound shop kinda places.
Just now I'm on Vosene, but I only "shampoo" my hair once or twice a week. Rinsed daily in shower / bath.
