Thank you so much for all your good wishes, this forum is full of truly wonderful people.
Yesterday went as well as could be hoped. It was odd having the organ music for Mums favourite hymns, but with no singing. We met a few of Mums friends that we did not know, it was lovely to know how much she was loved. Middle sister who has been going through Mums paper work, presented me with a folder of stuff containing lots of my old school reports, exam certificates etc. They make fascinating reading. It appears I was a bit of a swot, but that sometimes my sense of humour could be disruptive.
Going to need a restful day or two, especially as we are off to a nephews wedding on Friday.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Glad yesterday went as well as it could ... it'll be lovely to meet up with family at the wedding, but you're right, put your feet up now and make the most of a bit of peace in the garden. Â
doors and windows have been wide for hours ... there's a line of washing out in the sunshine, frogs are hopping across the lawn from the flower borders where they spend the night eating slugs to the pond where they lounge in the sun during the day.
Our supper tonight will be rashers of local smoked back bacon, big mushrooms, tomatoes, fried eggs, homemade sweet potato wedges and baked beans ... no prep to do this morning, so ...Â
Jobs for today are
1. pulling up the forget me nots and replacing them with some gaura plants,
2. tidying my end of the studio ready for some work, now that the tomatoes and squashes are in the garden,
and
3. putting a floppy hat on and wandering around with a coffee or glass of something cool, looking at things and smiling a lot ... and even
4. sitting under the pergola with a book, surrounded by honeysuckle,
I suggest you lot do the same ...Â

I'm so glad it went well @punkdoc. I hope you enjoy the wedding.
Lovely sunny day, but I will be inside painting the 2 bookcases we got out of the loft.
I went to the tip this morning, then to the DIY place for more pale grey furniture paint, then to the SM for snack lunch food.
I ate my first courgette on Monday, been enjoying the radishes and lettuces too. There are small bean pods on the broad beans and a couple of green tomatoes which I won't see. Potatoes have flowers, maybe I'll dig one up and see if there are any for dinner tonight.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I think you'll get a shock @Busy-Lizzie when you return to Norfolk to see how behind you we are in our neck of the woods. You won't be picking courgettes here for a while! Enjoy your day in the sun @Dovefromabove. Glad the day went well@punkdoc - funerals can be joyous occasions, funnily enough. Queues round the block - that's good for business @D0rdogne_Damsel - your hard work is paying off. @Nanny Beach - I was intrigued by your cyperus haspan and looked it up. It looks like a lovely grass. What I found was that it could be an indoor or outdoor plant (though being a papyrus you would need to bring it in for the winter). Stand it in a tray of water was the advice. I found this: https://www.bigplantnursery.co.uk/shop/plants/flowers-and-grasses/cyperus-haspan/. I have clearing and sorting to do today - and getting the things ready I need to take for our In Bloom plant stall tomorrow. Fingers crossed for lots of sales to boost the In Bloom coffers.
Very pleased it went well @punkdoc. I hope things are better now between you and middle Sis.
That looks dramatic @Pat E. I hope your roos find shelter.
It is set to get hot here and the sun is very strong so we'll be pottering in the Cave after lunch, putting the shelving units back and securing them and then starting to sort and load them.  Everything is piled up in the middle at the mo so it's an obstacle course and we need to get to the back to build an old wardrobe in which to staff some of Possum's gear when it comes back. Â
She and I are off up to Namur on Sunday to sort and pack and dump as appropriate and there's lots to do before I go so that OH can manage dogs, cats, chooks and watering.

Good luck to all working hard on cafés, projects, painting and gardening. Enjoy the shade and rest, those who can.
