@Hostafan1 Can only take pics if my daughter is around at the time as I don't have the facility. Other problem is that my "garden" is a separate allotment albeit only across the road. If I don't see my daughter today it can always wait until tomorrow. Another day won't hurt.

Don't worry about the pics if you'd rather crack on with them
@Hostafan1 Didn't manage to get pics but dug the plant up yesterday and was amazed at the root system. Managed to saw between the two different species and have replanted them. Will keep an eye on them to see how they perform. Two plants from one freebie can't be bad. Many thanks.
Mickfield Hostas is fairly close to me and I've been a couple of times - although not for a couple of years. They've had a fabulous range when I've visited.
I think they've been doing some major reorganisation over the last 12 -18 months (partly because they've had the time with so many shows etc being cancelled) and their emailed newsletter is always interesting.
The best thing is the people. Just a couple of highly knowledgable people happy to share their passion and enthusiasm and give any advice asked for.
Don't go expecting a posh set up, coffee shop and scented candles.
Do go expecting to return with a lighter purse. Their prices are reasonable - but it's hard to resist 'just one more')
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
thanks Topbird. Planning to go on Saturday and also Perfect Perennials while I’m up that way.
plain old nurseries will be a change from the several garden centres with coffee shops, scented candles, Tiptree jam stuff (and plants) which abound in and around here (Chelmsford) !
