    Has anyone visited Micklefield Hostas in Suffolk ?  It’s about 20 miles from me so I don’t want to set off unless I know it will be ‘worthwhile’.  Their website is like Aladdin’s Cave with dozens of hosta varieties but do they have a good selection at the nurseries ?

    I'm pretty sure @Dovefromabove has been there . They have a very good reputation.

    @Fran IOM
    I'd suggest digging up the plant in No 3 pic and completely cutting out the Blue bit otherwise you'll lose the variegated part. ( maybe Hosta Great Expectations ).

  • I thought of you @Hostafan1 at the weekend when I went to the gardeners world spring fair at Beaulieu.  New Forest Hostas were there (lovely people) with a gorgeous display.  I've got 18 hostas this year all in pots and not one slug hole yet wooohoooo!!  I'm definitely getting addicted.

    @Hostafan1  Many thanks for your advice. I will do just that later today. Maybe I will be able to split it into two plants. Who knows. Will wait and see.  :)

    So long as you get some decent root on the " blue " bit, you'll solve both problems. No more reversion on the good bit, and a free plant too.

    I haven't .......... I daren't ......... their site says they have over 2,000 varieties, and of these there are 1,000 varieties available for sale ... sounds too many to me ... I can't afford that many ..... perhaps one day I'll go with @WonkyWomble ... but I'll have to take OH with us and he can take charge of our purses.

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    @Hostafan1  Hopefully there will be roots enough to have two separate plants. All will be revealed later today. Many thanks.  :)

    Use a sharp knife. An old breadknife is perfect and you should have no problems
