... don't you both think we're all intended to do whatever we're intended to do?...
I'm an absolute believer in, "what I do is me", as Hopkins puts it in: "As Kingfishers Catch Fire"
"..... Each mortal thing does one thing and
the same: .... Selves — goes itself; myself it speaks and spells, Crying Whát I dó
is me: for that I came."
Do we have to go with how we were born? This is too difficult for me. We are born with our sexuality. We are born into a culture, poverty, riches. How many geniuses died of starvation in famines or were suppressed by gender, religion or were born ahead of their time, burnt as witches? How many psychopaths, suffered the same fate?
I have no doubt there were very many women all over the world, people born in countries outside the colonial powers, children who died of malnutrition and disease who, had they had a chance, education and liberty, could have changed their communities, countries, the world. But then. If Alan Turing had been born in another, more enlightened time, what might he have achieved? But if he had been born in another time, might Hitler have won the war? It's just too hard to unravel it all.
I don't believe in destiny, I think we make what we can of what we are given in the circumstances we find. And you can use your superpowers for good or for ill. It's up to you.

You could debate this subject till the cows home I think.
I'm curmudgeonly today because I had an email alert from M&S telling me that the trousers I wanted in the right size were back in stock. By the time I logged into the site, they were again out of stock. Not impressed, but have ordered the right size in a Long length as the only alternative - given that I'm under 5 ft now, I'm guessing I'll have to cut about 2 ft off!
It is hard @B3 and very big, starting with "Why are we here?"
I tend to believe in a variety of fate although I am not a fatalist. I think we all have 'milestones' in life, circumstances or moments where there are opportunities but because we have free will we can choose our path. Sometimes we go round in a circle and end up at the same 'milestone' and because we are older, had other experiences, developed different views we may make a different decision - take a different path.
To resign yourself to destiny is an abdication of the responsibility we should all take for our own lives. But then life can be fairer to some than to others.

Interestingly debate on here. As a woman I have the rubbish "spacial awareness thing" my hubby pops my Estate into a space I wouldn't even attempt for a bicycle! Terrifies me,he has a weird affinity with motor vehicles (vehicle tech for nearly 40 years) yet he can't understand why I don't weigh Everything when cooking. Rubbish at math, but I can "see the amount of flour I need proved it the other day (,no not the flour!), scooped it out AND weighed it. See what you mean about the adverts. I got "cancelled" yesterday by a friend of almost 40 years!!! Leave you pondering on that

I don't think he claims ALL are "just" but simply all act out what's inside them. He was a highly erudite priest, not a simpleton...
