Bay tree

My Bay tree leaves had all gone brown and extremely dry and fell of from the slightest touch so yesterday I decided to take all the dead leaves of and dead wood to help promote new growth hopefully there a only a handful of leaves left on that look nice and green and alive. My question is will it come back and how long until I notice some new growth coming.

How much water have you been giving it?

  • I think that was what pretty much made it die off (not enough water) it was in a pot but now I have planted in the ground

  • Quite a bit a good soaking 1-2 times a week

Have a look under the slate and see if it's dry.  Feel under the top few inches to make sure the water is getting to  the roots.
To see if it's alive, scrape a little bark off a few branches with your fingernail. If it's green underneath, it's alive.

The trunk is alive. That branch is dead. Try some more and don't scrape so hard!
