If it's any consolation you aren't the only one to have had problems with 4 in 1 although mine is the opposite to you.  I do use a spreader and thought the 4 in 1 was dry as it poured into the hopper OK.  It was only when I went to pour the unused 4 in1 back into the bag I discovered it was damp and had basically formed a solid lump in the spreader.  I have no idea how much of the lawn actually got the required amount before it got all gummed up.  I'll just have to wait a couple more weeks to see if anything changes.
I have read so many reviews from people who have made the same mistake with this product so yes it does make me feel less of a failure lol but still very upsetting to look at everyday. Heres hoping that we both receive a miracle gro miracle :D

  • Will do but I didn't bother with measurements as I thought that was just a general guide of how much area it could cover and since my garden isn't that big I just went for it. Next time I will read and reread instructions  ;)

Measure it out like I described  with canes and string and a paper cup ... it's logical and straightforward and saves a fortune in the long run.   :)

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

B&Q do a lawn spreader for £14 which, if used correctly, will guarantee the correct amount of treatment.  Definitely a worthwhile investment.

Just had a look at that. Is it the Verve one? Reviews are not great :(  The Evergreen one (on amazon) is £29, but has over 4000 positive reviews.  I'm still thinking the @Dovefromabove method maybe the cheap/good option.

Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.

If you have a large lawn then I can't see a better way than a lawn spreader but gosh I wish the product was brightly coloured so you could see exactly where you've been to prevent overlap or gaps on the long stretches.

That’s a great idea and wish I came here first. I’m not great with measurements so probably find a way to bodge that up too. Suddenly the dandelions and clover are growing on me 😁

Totally agree that would’ve been helpful. Too late now the damage has been done and I don’t see myself trying this product again. I might just stick to spot treating weeds or just live in peace with them 🙂
  • I will post a photo after I’ve reseeded and hopefully I’ll have something to be proud of to show you guys. In a few months or so 😁
  • Oh and if anyone can recommend which grass seeds to use that would also be very much appreciated 🙏
