Morning everyone - white rabbits & all that.
Good to see you @Busy-Lizzie. Thought one of the reasons you moved was to make things a little easier for yourself? Digging out a 3m diameter rose bed doesn't sound like taking it easy. I'm the same - ended up with a garden full of high maintenance perennials instead of low maintenance shrubs - we just can't help ourselves can we?😉🤣

SGL - love the bingo card. We sit there shouting "Kerrrr-ching" every time one of the catch phrases comes up😎 Can't wait - hope OH gets home in time so we can watch it tomorrow.

SM this morning then I might do some planting this afternoon if it's warm enough.

I can't help it @Topbird, I'm a plantaholic. This garden is a lot smaller than my last garden but I suppose it's bigger than most English gardens. There wasn't a single flower bed in it, last owners had two free range pygmy goats. I can't survive without a flowerbed or roses. But there is less housework, 3 bedrooms instead of 7.

    Morning (white rabbits)

Been out this morning for a little look around the garden to see what has changed over the last day or wo after the rain (and hail) we have had. I found a little Black Bird Egg all smashed and a dead baby in it so I have buried it in a nice sunny spot next to where poppy is coming up. I also spotted some green fly on a rose, so I dusted them off with a paint brush.

I agree with you @Busy-Lizzie I need flower beds.

Debs let us know how the milk/juice delivery goes. We have been considering it too.

    Morning all,

More running around a field duties this afternoon. Keep being told it will cold, wet and windy but blue skies at the moment.

Had a good day in my sister's garden on Thursday. Despite the hailstones, planted a couple of QE2 roses, loads of spinach, a blueberry bluecrop and a few bits and bobs (mostly ground cover) in the borders. Filled three planters, put in another pea wigwam and found somewhere for all the propagated strawberries from last year to go. They were all pot bound so, hopefully, can start to spread and fruit now. It was an expensive trip to the garden centre for someone :o (and we didn't even cross off everything on the list we'd made :o). I've left her with a couple of my tomato seedlings as well so, fingers crossed, there will be nice variety of edibles at some point :)

Half-filled the garden waste bin with weeding and tidying up to boot. Gave everything a good watering from the new outside tap and finished up as it was going dark - a proper day of gardening!

Didn't do much yesterday as the back was grumbling slightly but everything is kicking on nicely this side of the Pennines. The dwarf green beans are germinating after a week and the seedling windowsill is still rammed! Now where to put it all......

PR - I found this on my drive the other day. I blame the magpies which have been hanging around all the shrubs in my garden. No baby bird thank goodness but still sad.
I switched a year ago into having milk in glass bottles delivered. Its always there when I get up and I am an early bird as you've probably guessed. I recommend it.

Hello there Biglad. You sound like my handy brother with one difference - I would not let him anywhere near my plants or garden Enjoy your reffing today and I hope that the weather is kind to you and the teams.
Hazel, I've just taken this pic of my alliums as you asked some weeks ago about them appearing. They are still buds but you will get the idea.

Debs, you are so lucky being with walking distance of those woods - especially at this time of the year.

  • White rabbits x three.   I love Pygmy goats Busy Lizzie.  They’re so lovely, but not good for a garden.  I’ve just been in the garden, soil all over from the cats unfortunately, sweeping is essential.  Ive given Alfie his treats and he’s settled down for a snooze.  I’m just about to have a cuppa.  Have a good day.

Hello Hazel I’m glad you’ve had such a lovely time.  The energy of the young 🙂  I’ve been in the garden and then I came in to do the washing, all done.  Made an omelette to use up some eggs and watching Carol Klein on 5.  I’ve learnt how to plant snowdrop bulbs and grow seed potatoes this afternoon and sowing parsley.  Just about to make a cuppa.  Biglad sounds like you had a busy day in your sisters garden.  She will be pleased.
