Thanks @Dovefromabove. Maybe I'll go for a normal satin finish then. No Farrow and Ball or designer's Guild here that I've seen but I can research paint qualities in the brands available.
@steephill - yes, paint prices in France and Belgium are ludicrous. I used to do day trips to Canterbury for raids on Homebase and B&Q when we were renovating our Belgian farmhouse and had acres of newly plastered walls to paint. No such possibility here so we've been living with drab walls - and some gaudy ones - so I make the decision and investment just once. On the upside, houses are cheaper here.......
Still very cold out there in the wind so more pottering indoors for me and some sorting in the annex.

Afternoon folks. Had a busy day here. So lovely and warm this morning I walked down to GP surgery in just a T shirt and lightweight jacket. Nurse had to have 3 goes at getting blood out of me which wasn't nice and ended up doing it in the back of my hand, quite painful. I suggested that in the beginning but they will persist in trying the arms first. Now I'll have a huge bruise on my hand. Oh well. Was looking forward very much to my friend coming over for lunch on the terrace, half an hour before she arrived, the sun disappeared - we sat outside and froze. Half an hour after she left, it was sunny and warm again! Grrrr I'm shocked at the price of paint in France, Obelixx, I'm not surprised you used to do a quick cross Channel trip. Such a shame about your friend's situation DD, is she English or French? I don't know anything about French divorce law but surely he can't leave her with nothing? My UK Biobank antibody blood test has just arrived, not sure I can face doing that today!
Hi everyone, dry & bright most of the day. Went to a GC, we bought 3 pots, 1 to replace a frost damaged one, the others are to move plants up a size . Didn't buy any plants, these cold nights mean it's too risky at the moment.
Hi folks, Sunny day here but still chilly. I've been out and watered the raised bed and checked on all the treasures in the greenhouse. Everything looks OK apart from one cucumber plant that looks a bit dodgy.
Had a quote for kitchen makeover today. A bit more expensive that I thought but I've still got a couple of quotes to come in. Mind you after seeing the price of that paint I don't think I should complain.
Had my blood test done today (all five tubes) it will be a week before I get the results.
I've hoed the flower beds and painted one and a bit walls in the tool room part of the garage conversion. I slapped the paint onto the plaster quite thickly, don't want to do a second coat there. Next thing will be to wash down the shelving units from OH's old shed and put them in there then I can unpack some stuff.
I used that Dulux Light and Space paint for the sitting room in the Norfolk cottage, beams, inglenook, not enough windows, cosy sort of room. Haven't seen it here. or the garage conversion I'm using V33 Professional white which costs 39€, nearly £34 for a 5 litre tin, didn't seem too bad and it's very white. I watered it down a bit for the first coat as the plaster sucks it up.
Off for vaccination tomorrow morning.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
You're doing very well @Busy-Lizzie, I absolutely hate painting, and seem to paint everything, including myself, as well as the walls I am supposed to be doing. I've now given up and pay a man, it's worth every penny. I was lucky enough this last time to find paint at Lidl for 11.99€ for 5L. The decorator said it was the best he had found in France so far. Unfortunately, as always with Lidl, it's there one day, gone the next.
@Yviestevie, I had one quote from a kitchen designer here, it would make your eyes water, even the DIY shops kitchens are way more expensive than you ever see in the UK, I have no idea how they ever sell them, and they are not even nice.
My friend is English @Lizzie27, unfortunately, if he wants to play games out of spite the only people who will benefit are the solicitors. The price of hurt make pride unfortunately.
I had a productive afternoon in the garden, again, lots of little jobs done, and it is nice to be able to just 'tinker', all the big clearance jobs are done now, I do have a rockery to 'sort out' but other than that, apart from some endless hedge trimming, camellias next, it is all quite pleasurable.
I am getting fed up of bringing seedlings in and out every night, in fact I have been looking at a new GH. The old one is around the back of the house, a bit tired, but worse still, now the trees and hedges have grown around it, it is very much in the shade. The front garden is much sunnier. However, we have 7 walnut trees, if I put the new GH in the sunniest, lightest spot I am worried it would be pelted with dropping walnuts each autumn, not sure it could withstand that. Possibly a polycarbon roof might work. Frustratingly, the best spot is on a piece of land we should own, alongside the end of the house wall, and I have no idea why, but the absent neighbour owns it and refuses point blank to sell it! Anyway, possibly all a mute point, if I am back at CdeG next spring I probabaly won't have time to be sowing my own seeds anyway. Still, a shiny new GH is very alluring.

Golly Yviestevie, 5 tubes full! I'm full of admiration.
Psyched myself up to get the antibody blood test done and over with just before dinner with a promise of a glass of pink after. Was a bit surprised at the strength of the jab which made me wince and surprise, surprise, tested negative as I half suspected. Apparently doesn't mean that I'm not protected by the 1st vaccination but that the test didn't pick up any.
DD, if your friend is English, I believe she could institute divorce proceedings over here where the law seems to favour wives a bit more? She could probably do it online these days. A new GH sounds rather fun but as you say you might be extremely busy next year with a bit of luck.
I quite like painting Busy-Lizzie, find it very therapeutic. When we moved in here, I was going to do most of the redecorating all the way through but my back accident put an abrupt stop to that, couldn't bend up and down in a full body back brace.
I'm glad Dove is still in touch with Fairygirl, I had wondered if she was okay.
The joys of the countryside! Was potting on stuff when heard a loud thud, looked round to see a large bird of prey pick up a rat/small rabbit and swoop off much to the 4 dogs amusement. This afternoon, sitting at my desk, watched a large crow eat a baby pigeon and leave the remains on top of the log store and a very fat rat run along the windowsill, leap into the delicate window bird feeder and knick all the stuff!! Am officially Min of Social Services for beggars!!
