Hosta - it's a Kafkaesque nightmare and I have no idea how you get through it other than by just not giving up. Just keep filling in the next form and phoning and phoning and filling in the next form. I think it's a sort of Krypton factor elimination test - you only get through it if you really need it. But don't give up hope ((hugs))

Managed to plant the spuds and do a bit of weeding - out of the wind in the veg garden it was quite pleasant for a couple of hours this afternoon. Hand weeding is the best mindfulness exercise, isn't it? I feel much calmer and slightly sunburnt now.

Thanks for the recipe link @Obelixx - I did see the programme when he made those and made a sort of mental note, but his recipe has sugar, clotted cream and raisins (all no-go here) and mixed peel which I don't have, so I cobbled together that with my River Cottage soft bread recipe which uses yoghurt instead of cream, sultanas for the raisins, and no sugar. They're actually not bad  :)

    Good evening all,

Very hectic day as people came to collect their Easter orders, I was at work at 6am this morning, I wanted to get ahead before people started arriving - they love to chat, understandably as everyone is so lonely, but when I am icing biscuits it just doesn't work. Anyway, everyone happy and I am all set for tomorrows' lot.

Charlie's wild swimming group won't be able to continue after tomorrow as some of then have to come more than 10K, only just, but it's not worth the fine. They are all going a day early tomorrow to get one last dip in before lockdown. Charlie may well continue on his own, it's only 4k from us, but although I will watch and hold the hot chocolate and towel, I won't be tempted.  ;)

Sorry to hear of your bureaucratic frustrations @Hostafan1, you have my sympathy. Sometimes these systems do kind of lose touch with the idea they are supposed to be helping people.  :/

Not cold here, but windy. I have done an evening patrol of the garden , had to water the newer plants but other than that everything is alive and well. I have only been gone one day and I am worried about them, once I am back to work full time the poor things will have to fend for themselves, although, given the current Covid situation here, it won't be any time soon.

Sneak peek of my Easter offerings for you all, I was especially pleased how the Easter Bonnets turned out. They are Almond and Limoncello shortbreads; treat yourselves if you're feeling a bit fed up or tired, virtual calories don't count.

For what it is worth @Hostafan1, when I was on long term sick leave, before I was forced to retire, I applied for PIP and was turned down. I reapplied with Moira doing most of the forms [ I was to keen to emphasise what I could do ] and was accepted.

That’s a very good point @punkdoc and @Hostafan1  ... the families I used to work with regularly told me how awful applying for DLA/PIPs for their youngsters was, because it was all about what their disabled children couldn’t
do ... so much negativity, when it was so important to them to tell people od their children’s abilities and hard won triumphs ... small tho they may be.

You do need a very different way of thinking when you complete the forms 😞

settling down now with a podcast ... night night all 😴

@Hostafan1, my mother was registered blind in later life,  she was advised to apply for a personal care allowance.  The forms were over 10 pages long & utterly impossible for her to manage.  Eventually she got helps through the RNIB , even the person who came to fill the form for her said how daunting it was.  She was initially turned down but did get help, later when they insisted she try again.  Don't give up!

    Happy Easter everybody
  • Good morning all,

Happy Easter @GWRS, nice to see you.

Lovely here, although apparently going to be colder next week. Lots of plants to run around and protect I think tomorrow evening.  :0

Off to work now, lots of Easter goodies to distribute.

Have a good day all. :)
