My Bishop of Llanduff and Rip City were in full flood on July 3rd in 2020. I haven't had one Bishop yet this year. They are both way, way later than usual. Mignon and Aruna haven't started either, though covered in buds. I think there is just not enough sun. Monty has a lot in full flower.

Blue Bayou has opened its first flower, this was Sunday morning as the bud finally unfurled. So much later than my other dahlias, which started in early June.

My dahlias are all put to bed in their duvets. A faff, but worth it. A good job to get done, in the wind and rain.

I’ve never grown dahlias before, but thanks to seeing all the posts and photos on this forum I’ve taken my first baby steps and ordered dahlia ‘Cornel’ and ‘Nicholas’ from Sarah Raven (using discounts to offset delivery fees). Very excited for next February when the tubers arrive!

I'm excited too about new ones to try next year. I hope it's an easier growing year than this one.

This is an interesting vid on dahlia options. He talks about lovely companion plants at the start, and dahlias about min 11.

Thanks for this @Fire — those pot supports Claus designed look great, he needs to sell them online

That was a lovely video - thanks @Fire
I buy my supports from here:

But they don't seem to have the ones with a ring halfway up as well.  They do have these though:
