All mine have been potted up and are in the conservatory. Most are showing buds now but my curiosity got the better of me on one that wasn't showing any- my Waltzing Mathilda was a bit too soft all over.
Of course they're out of stock seemingly everywhere online now, my favourite one too.
Only got it last year which is a pain. I've found if you can get a tuber through 2 seasons it gets big enough by then that there's enough collateral on the tuber to allow for a few dodgy bits to not make a difference.
Just when I thought I was down and out, the garden centre along from the girlfriend had loads of Waltzing Mathilda in stock. Only come in packs of 2 of course so I'm 1 up again...
I planted 6 new ones, and had been worried for weeks when there was no sign of life. Now 3 are up and looking fine, but the other 3, still nothing. (in pots in greenhouse)
They are different to the others, much smaller tubers (Bishop's Children), I did have a dabble in the soil, they feel ok, but no sign of life yet, despite being in the same conditions as the others. Does anyone think there is any hope?

I have one in the ground (been there a couple of years) which isn't showing yet, but there's still time - for me they don't normally put in an appearance until May.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Also got my eye on Waltzing Mathilda! I am pretty sure Sarah Raven have some in stock that are good to go but I know they're a bit on the pricier side...
I'm new to growing dahlias. I bought some tubers and have planted them in pots in unheated greenhouse probably about 3 weeks ago - wish I'd put a date on. I planted them in pots just leaving top showing. Am keeping them moist but how long should it take before I see some form of life appearing? I also had one last year which was in a pot and just cut it down and put in the greenhouse over the winter. Hoping that will survive too.
I am growing a new variety this year called Happy Single Kiss which has taken 6 (yes SIX) weeks to start shooting. So I would hang tight yet, every variety differs it seems.

Shape, colour and dark leaves are all a winner for me.
