  Well that fact doesn't exactly give them a free pass for all that horrible plastic stuff they produce on the side @punkdoc and yes I appreciate they charge a premium for a product they manufacture and in sturdy metal 
  
  My generic hydrometre and thermometre has been working fine for six years in summerhouse and greenhouse btw.
