Popped into Woodthorpe Plant Shop to see if they had any Agastache, came back with Iris 'War Chief' instead... The colour is a nice relief from all the mauve alliums etc
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
Been getting the garden ready for our gardens open day on Sunday. Nothing special - just some of us opening our gardens so we can all have a nose... Took these pics at the end of the afternoon today - it had clouded over so a bit dull but we had nice sunshine earlier. Sorry - there are quite a few! We inherited this pond and inherited the too big waterlily that was in it. We keep cutting bits out. One day we'll give it a good old go. But this is my woodland area as North facing. Looking the other way. The woodland area is on the right. This is the yellow border with the outhouse behind. Yes I know - the windows are in a bit of a state! Looking from the back to the front - Some of my pots. Waiting for something to go in the two little terracotta pots in the front. The veg. patch. The front. Our garden is all to the side of the house. Some neighbours have paved over their bit like this for their cars. Looking back. The pots from a different angle. I love our old oak water butt. The front garden in front of the house. There is a red terracotta tile border all around which we have kept. Sadly the bins have to be kept here - not in the picture but at the bottom right. I suspect I will be cutting more circles in the lawn Liking the phlomis against the house. There are 4 roses in the border in the middle of the pic but this is only their first season so not really visible yet. This is the border between the front lawn and the veg patch. I'm pretty pleased with it! Self sown California poppies at the bottom of the pic. are in a crack between the border and the path. They don't go with my blue/burgundy scheme but - they are so lovely they get to stay! The back lawn from a different angle. To the right is the 'hot' border which really comes into its own later in the year with the dahlias and chrysanths. At the moment it is a sea of yellow and orange with the geums. I think I may pop in some clover and birds foot trefoil in the grass in this bit next year.

Got lots of bark coming at the weekend to replace the gravel and membrane that I got rid of.
