    @Papi Jo That Loropetalum looks beautiful. Is it hardy enough for where you live? I’ve long wanted one.

    Thanks, @AnniD I've just ordered 3 specimens of Astrantia major 'Shaggy', which should look similar. I know it's not the ideal time of year for planting them, but was too impatient to wait!

    @gondor … hope you don’t mind me answering … that’s Centranthus ruber … (used to be called red valerian). 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    @purplerallim yeah, I know, it's about the journey not the destination 😊 lack of knowledge + impatience + low budget = frustration this year though. I'm learning to live vicariously through this thread! 😀
