Yes this morning they helped me water the pots, weed and feed some of the roses. We also potted on their sunflowers that they started growing at nursery (bit early really but they were timed to be given as Mother’s Day gifts for all the children) Then they were gathering up my prunings and playing ‘woodcutters’. I trimmed back the sage and lavender as I missed doing it last year due to them flowering late, so they were running around with clumps of those in their hands.
We did have quite an idyllic morning...it’s not always like that! 😂
I fed all of my furthest along roses today. Here’s the semi shaded bed - all geraniums and alliums at the moment.
Main job today, following on from potting the two roses yesterday, I moved or potted all of the plants that I wanted to keep from this area. It’s where I’m going to put in a seating area - will have a narrow bed in front of it so it’s surrounded by plants.
I hope I remember what all of these things are! 😄
There are my potted on secret gardening club plants, cuttings from last year, things from the allotment, plus all the plants I moved today.
@Ma@Marlorena We love the grass, it’s the one Claire Austin sent me last year instead of calamagrostis, a happy mistake - especially as I ended up with both.
Oh I’m so pleased with these! Two years ago I bought a Brunnera Jack Frost, loved it and wanted more so I tried dividing it that autumn. To my surprise, the plant mostly fell apart and there wasn’t much left to pot. I ended up with three sections but these all rotted overwinter. I mistakenly thought drainage wasn’t a major issue assuming that Brunnera liked damp...when in fact it’s the opposite - they all rotted.
I bought a replacement Jack Frost and also a Sea Heart last year, both growing well now and flowering.
But today I spotted these. In the same spot that first Brunnera had been! So some tiny bit of it survived unnoticed. Have potted them. Hopefully will have more success this time!
Oh and I can see first growth starting to push out on Lady of the Lake, but it’s in an awkward spot for taking photos!
I guess I’m the third member of the ‘Etoile bud’ club.. having just spotted a small but definite bud on my Etoile today..
Lovely new foliage on display currently.. most of my potted roses are now in their third year and they really do look so much more robust than the first year bare roots that I planted last autumn..
Meanwhile I’m so glad I made the decision to plant some spring bulbs to add colours to my balcony before the roses take centre stage in summer

@celcius_kkw, your spring bulbs are beautiful and cheerful. Very nice. Roses are looking great and far ahead.
I have a half day off from work and loads of gardening tasks to do and it's going to be sunny
