    Couldn't agree more. 
    Same here ........ I remember I was sitting at our dining table when I heard the news ... i said at the time that it was a national tragedy.

    It was a real tragedy @Dovefromabove.

    He had been scheduled to do the official opening of one of our extra care housing projects in Fife which was named after him.
    One of his daughters came in his place .... really brave of her to come.

    I have managed to do some seed sowing at last.  Unlike Monty, I prefer to use 1/2 pots rather than trays,  less prone to drying out but more importantly I can get more of them in the propagator.

    John Smith seemed to be a politician who was liked and respected by people of all political persuasions.  I agree his death was an absolute tragedy.  Politics, and the country, may have been very different with him as a party leader.
