Best of luck @Lizzie27. I'd feel exactly the same.

I rate them highly as well. I once had the pleasure of visiting their store in Windemere, talk about an Aladdin's cave and the staff were very friendly.

My RTBC today - an appointment next Monday morning to see my GP in person!!!
Preceded by blood tests this Thursday which isn't so good - I don't give up my blood very easily.

Drink plenty of fluids.  I always get into trouble with the nurse when I go.  It's more like drilling for oil and taking a blood sample.

OH has the same trouble. Also been recommended plenty of fluids, plus keeping really warm beforehand. Ends up being well prodded about, and then, on one occasion, they checked his blood pressure afterwards! Not surprised it was through the roof.

Can't eat or drink anything before a blood test as it affects the results.  I too have secretive veins so I sit and pump my hand whilst waiting my turn.   It helps.  RTBC?  Blood results from latest test are all good as is BP.  Just the stupid knee and other arthritic bits to manage.

  • When I go for a blood test I take a half litre bottle of water to the Clinic with me and drink it in the waiting room ... it seems to work for me, so far 🤞 I'm due for a blood test in a week or so ...

Not allowed here or in Belgium.  We have to be "ajeun" and not have had liquid or solid intake as they affect viscosity, blood sugar levels and no doubt more.

My blood tests aren't for 'fasting bloods' ... they're only for thyroxine levels and can be taken at any time of the day and whatever I've eaten or drunk, although I have had to do 'fasting bloods' occasionally in the past for cholesterol check ups.  However last time I went the nurse said nowadays cholesterol can be checked with a fingerprick test and fasting is not always necessary.

My blood tests are MOT jobs so measure red and white blood cells, cholesterol and blood sugar levels amongst other things.
