I bought a Contigo mug and Hubby bought one too after he realised how long my tea stayed hot

I asked for a new insulated mug for Xmas but didn't get one so I asked for one for my birthday instead. The general view seemed to be I should buy one for myself and someone will probably send me the money for it maybe. I was sent a 21% off discount code from a company that we bought the kids' drinks bottles from so had a look at their mugs and found one that already had 20% off on sale. It's probably a good mug but all the photos on the website were of attractive people holding the product in a way that made it hard to see it and there were no detail photos of the important bits (of the mug not the models). To get free delivery I ordered two so my wife can have one as well. So basically I've had to buy my own birthday present and buy my wife a present as well. I'll be happy though as long as my drink stays warm while I'm hiding from the kids in the greenhouse. :|

wild edges, your posts never fail to brighten my day - even when they haven't brightened yours. :D
  • I'm quite mercenary,Β  I ask for vouchers if they can't find what I want,Β  so I get something I will use rather than hideous socks & jumpers that I will never wear.Β

Me too, I would much rather choose my own presents.

I'd rather have someone who could choose amazing presents I'd never thought of. Ho Hum😐

Not going to happen here @B3 so I too prefer to give a list of desired objects - usually garden related but sometimes house or sewing - and be very precise about the make, model, size etc.

For my birthday in November we were in lockdown so I had to go by myself to select and buy my plant prezzies.Β  I did get exactly what I was after.

  • Me too @B3 unfortunately my brother died unexpectedly nearly 10 years ago.Β  He always found exactly the right thing for everyone.Β

My mum buys me a big box of Hotel Chocolat truffley things every year. I can't stand them but generally my wife eats the entire box before I get a chance to read the menu card. I'm sure their chocolates used to be better years ago but it's all a bit odd and overly sweet now. I told my mum a few years ago that I don't like their chocolate so she's either got a terrible memory or she's doing this just to annoy me. I like getting books as presents but people don't seem to like giving them. I guess they all got books as kids when they'd asked Santa for toys.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
