That's why i'm cynical @josusa47 . I have a feeling the selling on would be used for drugs money.

In some cases, maybe.  But even if it is, I'd rather they get their drugs money this way than robbing little old ladies.

BenCotto  Thinking I'd be the odd pariah that neither wants, nor gives, anything, I've only just read up on a few of the posts and Ben Cotto's impressed me as being, as someone else said, thoughtful.  If the person concerned has never been to Monte Cassino, the horrific reality of the place won't be so vivid.  The monastery has long since been restored to its former glory and, as one old soldier said to me, It's a bit bloody different to when we were up here 55 years ago.  Arrange a visit if you can, Ben?

I think there’s a couple of ways people look at things like Freecycle ... some see it as a way of helping the less fortunate, whereas others see it as a way to avoid sending useable stuff to landfill ... (and of course you can combine the two).

Both are valid in my eyes 😊

We have various community sharing sites locally online and no doubt some stuff gets sold on. But I don't see a problem. If stuff was going to go to landfill and someone finds a use for it or even a market for it, all the better. I'm personally more worried about stolen items ending up on Gumtree or FB marketplace etc. But even then, unless it's a car or something of hgh value, it's a huge amount of trouble to go to for v little profit. Most things sold would barely cover the petrol for having gone to collect it.

Three things I would avoid buying on community sites are 1) any kind of bike 2) tools 3) phones. All are stolen in vast numbers because there is a market to buy them hot, no questions asked. If you wouldn't like yours stolen, don't buy them from dodgy sellers.

I had a surprise present from my daughter of a lovely handmade willow 'hare' now nicknamed Harry. It's quite big, about 3ft high. It had to be brought into the hall last night in  case it got blown away!
