Oh Yvie you do sound very busy these days - so many balls to juggle at the moment. Best wishes to you and your family - I hope things settle down for you all soon.

Our plans have just been thrown in the air again. MIL was going to BIL's for Christmas lunch. It's 3 miles up the road from her, an easy drive, she can stay for as long or as short a time as she feels up to and get to see a couple of the GC's who still live at home. Perfect - except....

...someone in the family has now tested positive so she can't go there. She doesn't know yet. We will, of course, invite her to come here but that will mean OH making 2 x 400 mile round trips in the space of a couple of days and her coming closer to the very high risk areas. We're still all in T2 but it's not the best idea is it?

Really hope (in the nicest possible way) that she'll be prepared to stay on her own but it will be for her decide.

Oh my goodness T'Bird. What a dreadful situation for you. You must be asking the question 'What on earth will go wrong next?' I don't think it is the best of ideas but then I don't agree with Jack going away with some family members either, especially since they have quoted that the new variant has made its way around the country and there are reported cases in Cumbria - where they are going.

We've just spoken to MIL. She's a bit teary but has decided to stay on her own. Don't think she could face isolating with us for 10 days if any of the 3 of us were to develop symptoms😬😉

Quite relieved really as I've just seen that local cases have doubled in 5 days and there seems to be a real hotspot very close to us.

Going to be a difficult one this year.

  • Afternoon everyone, gosh a lot of unmentionables have taken place you are a clean minded lot 😇
Yvie I echo the sentiments of the others in wishing Gabriel better, thoughts are with you and your family,
T’bird Sorry to hear the news of your BIL’s I can understand your concerns with regards to MIL in this current situation she is safer in her own home,
Rosie sounds like a very pleasant walk with your dad in the sunshine, that will have done you both good.
I did pop to the SM this morning it wasn’t too bad, plenty to go around and no queues it felt quite relaxed.

TBird your MIL is doing the right thing .As you say ,it would be awful if yourOH brought her to your house and then one of you tested positive .And it’s an awful long drive there and back for your OH .

I've done a lot of unmentionable today too.
What a busy lot we've all been 🤣
Wrapped up the last pressie that arrived today, so that's all done too. So now I can relax and just wait for tomorrow's  SM delivery. I wonder if it will all arrive. Well what doesn't we will have to go without. We've got food in the freezer, fridge and cupboards so we won't starve for awhile yet.

Yvie, so very sorry to hear Gabriel is poorly again, I do hope he gets better soon. Hope the funeral went as well as they can. Best wishes to you and your family, hope you have a peaceful Christmas.

Topbird, Sorry your MIL can't see your brother,  but it will be safer for her to stay in her own home. Such a sad year this year. Such a worry for you, best wishes.
Chey, good to see you. Sorry yo hear your'e still in a lot of pain. Take care.
Rosie, glad you managed to see your dad and go for a walk.
    Hi Chive and Ruby 🙋‍♀️
LB, hope you got all your missed items from the SM trip today.

  • That’s good Rubee, it’s been an ok day thank you after SM I popped round to mum and left her shopping in the porch, then we had a chat from a distance.
