Morning all, Grey here with a bit of light rain. Hubby has popped out to get some fresh bread. Any tips on keeping it as fresh as possible for tomorrow and Christmas morning?
I'm going to make some mince pies today and have a few domestic duties to perform but not planning on anything else.
Hope your last day goes well @Ante30 and that you get chance to relax.
I feel sorry for all those poor lorry drivers. It doesn't look likely that they will all get home for Christmas.
Yvie - I find that bread wrapped and stored in the fridge keeps for several days. Best brought back to room temp before you eat it though. For bread which is definitely better being very fresh (eg baguettes and other crusty bread) I wrap them in foil and pop them in a hot oven for 10 mins. Seems to revive them a bit.
@star gaze lily - fingers crossed all goes well for your husband. I'd want to be there too. Wonder how the consultant would feel about making it a video meeting if you have questions to ask?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Ante enjoy your last days in school before the break up. LB I hope the cat sitting goes smoothly. Chey gel I hope things pick up for you. Wishing you all the best. Hazel and Lily I’ve an sm delivery too, hope you get everything. Chive Im Trying to get some jobs done before Christmas Eve. I hope you’re enjoying your time at home. Lily I hope you have some positive news for you both. Wishing you well.
Good afternoon everyone. All my morning missions accomplished and it was lovely to see some of the rellies - even at a distance. The roads were hideously busy so I was glad when I got to the last lap towards home - welcomed, of course, by the ubiquitous rain! Boo hiss!
SGL, got everything crossed here that the check up for your OH goes well today.
Yvie, I do as T'Bird suggests my only difference with the oven revival is that I spritz the top of the loaf with a little water.

Lily I hope that all goes well for your other half . Chive we are ready for a very quiet Christmas .
Lily my heart goes out to those poor chaps waiting to get to France . They will be well fed today by a lovely Sikh charity who at very short notice cooked enormous amounts of food and transported it to the drivers .
No problem T'Bird. Ruby I heard that the Salvation Army and some other charities were also helping feed those poor drivers. It must be a nightmare for them waiting there with little in the way of washing/toilet facilities. Too horrid to even think about.

@star gaze lily so glad to hear some good news for a change. I've completed a lot of my chores and I'm just waiting for the pastry case to finish blind baking before adding my custard mixture. I've decided that Hubby needs a haircut before the big day so I'll be doing that before getting the sucky thing out for my final job of the day.

Thanks LB!😁
OH now back, straight in to see oncologist, no hanging around. Thorough check up and all ok! That's so good to know. 🤗
I do that trick with the bread too. 😉 works a treat.
