is my conifer dead?

i may have over cut it 2 years ago. colour is green and brown the leaves still have green in them  i water it regular over summer i assume its stressed

    I can't see a dying conifer. Do you mean the tree in the middle?
    The photo isn't very clear I'm afraid, but it looks like a maple of some kind. They're deciduous, so don't retain foliage over winter  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Maybe a photo of an individual leaf ... just to confirm?

    I think that's a Cupressus of some sort ... not a very happy one ... I think you're right, it may well be stressed ... possibly from drought ... they need a great deal of water and with a tree either side it may well have struggled.  Unfortunately once patches have gone brown they won't turn green again ... I think I'd remove it and lessen the demand for moisture in that area so that the other two trees don't suffer the same fate.   
    With generous watering in the spring and summer the other two may well spread out and fill the gap.

    it could be the case that the tree is ment to be this colour... as its not a conifer. as were comparing it to a conifer. would new growth not allow more green leaves as iv noticed some have gone green i have been watering it all over summer. your help had been gr8t.
