The electrician came. He said the faulty phone is due to the outside cable which I have reported several times to Orange since July but they have done nothing. It has come off the posts in several places. They said it was OK. So I rang them again, they tested the line again and have admitted a fault, coming on Wednesday.
I've swept up 6 large barrowloads, the big barrow I used for the horses' hay, of leaves from the kitchen terrace. I hope the lime tree has finished at last.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Let's hope they can fix it @Busy-Lizzie. We also have a problem with our broadband provider, the account is in my name and I have a password but we have individual email accounts and OH has never had a password as far as we remember. I can still get emails but he can't and it's driving us mad. He spoke to them today and they have admitted it's a fault their end but without a password, he/they can't change it. Talk about going round in circles! I think we'll just threaten to move and see what happens then.Â
It all sounds a bit like our weeks of being without internet in the first lockdown after an engineer fixing something for next door quietly unfixed something we need in that same junction box.  New modem, new this that and t'other and, finally, after some weeks they sent a man to check the box on the post across the road.  Bingo. Took all of 30 seconds.  The only up side was that they gave us oodles of free hours on OH's mobile phone so we could "tether" and communicate reasonably well outside working hours.
We have been to a beach today - vast, empty stretches of sand all to ourselves and the rush and roar of bigger waves as they came in and the gentle susurration as the water receded down the sand again.  Fabulous bright sunshine and lots of little seabirds on the shoreline.  The dogs had a good run too.
Home via France Rural in Moutiers to get some netting to keep the hens off my broad beans and then OH and Possum set off again to fetch Harry home.  He's had his computer re-set.  Not something we can do ourselves so a good job it's under warranty.
Busy day, stressing a bit, I know it'll all work out, but at the moment my list of 'to do' is getting longer despite me ticking off things as fast as I can. Getting hold of supplies is causing all sorts of delays/added workload. Now Ive got to make my own naan bread and onion bhajis for Friday as well as the curry and the starters. Just finding the right flour and then of course the appropriate containers for takeaway took time I haven't got. Lots of people now asking for scones, luckily I've frozen two batches, but it's all about timing, having it packed up and ready, ideally when I'm not up to my elbows in marzipan or bread dough. ....
Sorry to hear about your daughter losing the house @Lizzie27 , ever so difficult to bear, I do keep thinking about all these poor young people struggling to get where they want to be and not getting very far. It's going to be a tough few years yet I fear.Â
Anyway, must sleep, calm myself down. Everything will be fine in the end. Just feeling a lot of responsibility for people's Christmas plans. Never expected this massive response. đ±
Good night all, I might not be back until the weekend. Take care everyone. đ

Good luck for Friday's curries @DOrdgne_Damsel, I'm sure you will cope well, you seem to thrive on pressure! Cancellation of daughter's house purchase hopefully gives us more time to save a bigger deposit so it might well turn out all right in the end.
Shows no sign of that here @Obelixx, average price here in Bath is now £362,000 odd. Young people are completely locked out of the market. I expect a slowdown after the tax relief is axed in March perhaps but there is such a shortage of housing in England, demand exceeds the supply. Sounds like you enjoyed your outing to the beach, I was thinking of you earlier. We probably won't see the sea again until Boxing Day.
Night all and good luck with your cooking @D0rdogne_Damsel. @Obelixx your day at the beach sounds lovely. ( & morning @Pat E -- hope you have milder weather today !)

Don't the days go quickly when you're workingÂ
Another moist morning here with the soundtrack to my home office working being a steady drip as water comes in at the bottom of the patio doorsÂ
Lots of jobs to do if the aged, old ruin survives the winter.
Right - lunch break over. Back to the grindstone!
