I currently have a hybrid toyota having changed my car a year ago.  It's really good on mileage and is self charging.  On short trips it mainly stays in EV mode.  It's a good first step.  If I can afford it in the future I would happily change to a full EV.

@B3  @Dovefromabove  @Obelixx   Yes, I have a microwarvay (as Nigella calls it) but I think we will alter the menu and have cold and enjoy the roast perhaps on New Year's Day.  What a bummer, eh?  Got in the foie gras and smoked salmon, asparagus.... Probably could do a maigret of duck (breast) maybe on the Barbie or skillet it inside.  Toss some spuddies around in a pan - green beans.  Plenty of alternatives.  I may have to buy a new oven if the technician can't obtain a replacement door.  Shame as it is a Die Diectrich and works like a dream.  Pending!

I do hope everyone gets their brussel sprouts this year!  Watched ITV news this morning and see the backlog is beginning to move.  Fish products from Britain has come through today all right.

Thank you girls for your encouraging comments!!!

Hubby was explaining the "boost" and "trickle" charging stuff to me regarding the electric cars, that the Tesla takes 10 hours to charge, so a bit different to your standard "toilet" break on the motorway. that on larger vehicles, your home Consumer Unit hasn't got the power capacity for them, that vehicle alone would need your total power supply.  Although what was then Vauxhall have had electric cars a couple of years, there was not ONE single tech who was trained to service or repair them. However he says it will take years to bring this in.Even if they do come down in price, they will still be out of most folks reach.

Unfortunately, I have a two-legged ambulatory dishwasher and it's useless at cooking. The Pontius Plate model . Too old for spare parts or updates. Not eco-friendly. Fills the sink with suds to wash a teaspoon😕

@Nanny Beach   YES!!  My slow-cooker thanks to my wonderful English friend Helen from B******  who now loves a Monaco before dinner!!  Of course!  Thank you for reminding me as I wanted to try and bake a cake in there!  They sold up here last last summer due to failing health......  The English contingent down here is dwindling at that restaurant table in the spring.
Thank you Nanny B.  I love you!!

I thought a Tesla could charge from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes on a high speed charger and in about an hour on a more standard public charger.

Howling winds here.  Have learned the hard way that being hunkered down and snuggled up in your home are not a guarantee of safety from winds.   On the other hand, we aren't in a flood plain or on a slidey mountain side.
