I missed your post there @Fairygirl, she would only be too happy to have "Dave" to talk to.

I think Dave has all the answers to life's problems @floralies ;)
We all need a Dave from time to time.

I can understand people finding certain birds noisy and messy - I have a car and we have a lot of crows and starlings round here [ ;) ] but to do what they've done is really quite sad.  :(

I'll have to wait until it's available later @Dovefromabove. Your OH did well in that 2nd round then  ;)

'Twas dank outside today but did a little bit. 3 more rose cuttings taken. The first I took (a month ago) looks like it has taken and is showing signs of new growth. It probably shouldn't please me as much as it does but  :)

Back home again after a 240 mile round trip and thankfully a well and safe daughter, suitably apologetic for causing us worry. As she was feeling suicidal back in February, you can imagine what I thought when she wouldn't answer her phone these last two weeks or so.
We had an enjoyable dinner together last night and talked lots. She has promised to text or phone once a week. Trouble is, she was diagnosed on the autistic spectrum a couple of years ago so doesn't always empathise or understand other people's feelings.

Anyway, it's been a lovely sunny drive back with the trees along the M5 all starting to change colour and looking good. Hoping to get some gardening done now that the vertigo has gone away.

  • Fingers crossed it's putting down roots as well eh @Biglad. You will know by spring!

Dank & drizzly here on & off so nothing done outside, inside we have been playing with a new toy. We took the plunge & bought a cordless vac, our old Miele works ok but OH is finding it heavy to take upstairs, & I was finding it heavy to "do" the stairs, pleased so far but it is a bit plasticky so not sure how long it will last. We actually went to a shop to buy as you need to try these things. Disappointing to see how many people not wearing masks either properly or at all. We went in got what we wanted & came straight out again.

    Meetings done.
Earlier you asked if anyone knew what to do, @Fairygirl
The answer is very much no, but I don't think anyone is really to blame, because I don't think there is an answer.
If we go for total lockdown, the country goes bankrupt and if we leave things as they are, the death rate becomes totally unacceptable.
Luckily management of Intensive Care at least has issues we can solve [ along with those we can't ]

Just had a wander round the garden, and the Beech trees are starting to develop their buttery colouring.
Need to start thinking about digging up the Cannas and Dahlias, a major job when I need half an hours rest after each one.
