Extra pasta/rice? 1 husband +2 dogs = zero extra food
Once I cooked some rice and put it in the fridge to cool for the next stage of the recipe. Next day - rice gone!! Apparently plain cold boiled rice made a great breakfast. 😤😤
Plain cooked rice will be eaten by the birds if thrown out on the lawn (although I'm like Lyn in that we cook what we need and never have any leftovers. Our food waste container has never been used!)Â
I must be allergic to the toxins then @B3. I don't think any rice I've cooked has ever been chilled within twenty minutes If it's thoroughly reheated, it's safe. General recommendation is to only ever reheat once though.Â
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I cool it and freeze it. I doubt it's often done [refrigerated] within an hour. I can honestly say - I've never had 'the runs or the vomits' after eating reheated rice, and I've been doing it for decades. Maybe I am immune to the toxins then My children must be as well.Â

No takeaways here - except Frenchified pizzas in July and August so no thanks - and very few leftovers, certainly never rice or pasta unless I'm cooking a larger quantity because I want cooked rice for another dish. Haven't done a pasta salad for years.
