We watched it and liked it. OH liked Helen Dillon's garden as it had neat paths and tidy borders, he hates plants that hang over paths - unlike me, I like plants to soften edges. I'll watch it on my own tomorrow so that he doesn't get ideas.

Enjoyed tonight's programme, it seemed to pass very quickly .
I envied Diarmuid and his colleague going around that garden centre  - l think l preferred the more subtle planting to Diarmuid's pot to be honest.
I wonder if he has shares in a chair company?  :)
  • Really enjoyed it, like you Anni,I thought the Garden Centre looked very appealing,I looked around to see if there were any masks being worn!

@Valley Gardener. It's probably from the olden days. An RTE &NI collaboration bought in.

The half hour did go quickly but they seem to fit in as much as GW does in an hour.
Did enjoy it so hope the rest of the week is as good. I rather liked Darragh Stone.  :)

The broadcasting companies either commission programmes from their own editorial and production teams or from outside companies or buy a ready-made product so yes, the license payer funds the makeovers as they are costed in the programme making budget.

In Garden Rescue, the garden owner provides the funding for plants and materials but the design and landscaping are done by the presenters and a team of specialists paid for by the programme makers.

I've only see one episode of Gardening Together so far but it seems clear to me that Diarmuid's design is part of his brief as programme presenter and therefore paid by the programme maker and thus the viewers.   It wasn't clear whether or not the costs of implementing his design are borne by the programme or the owner of the garden.

I don't see that it matters much and I certainly wouldn't want the intrusion of camera teams on my property or being open to comment, good or bad, from all and sundry who watch it if I was also paying for everything.
