So, probably talks. Using it through your browser will probably be fine (it's been a while since I used it without the app so can't remember all the details). It's only if they're doing breakout groups or other fancy stuff that it might be compromised, I think.
    What's a " breakout group"?

When you go to conferences or sometimes training for large numbers, quite iften the large group is split into smaller ones to go and discuss / be trained in something specific - these tend to be called 'breakout groups', or you go to a 'breakout room'. Zoom has this built in, but I think it's probably only in the paid version.

Thanks 😊. I really do need to get my head out of the garden and catch up with the world!

When I was about 10 my Granny said that if someone wanted to tell her something they would write her a letter and if it was a bit more urgent they would call from the local phone box by the pub and if it was a matter of life or death they would come to her house.

She also said "Dont tell everyone a bit of your business or tell someone all of your business "

This modern day world "allows " people the chance to tell everyone all of their business at the press of a button any time of the day where ever they are.

I have a PC and use it with care and discretion and in this current climate find it very useful to order stuff and stay in touch with family.

  • @Hostafan1 breakout rooms are great. I can see it working for a gardeners world conference where you split people into smaller groups to discuss set topics. You get whizzed away and then pulled back again to the main discussion by the organiser - feels like time travel lol.
its amazing how quickly zoom, Teams and web conferences have become a normal part of life.

I'm glad I don't have enough friends to worry about Zoom

When there's a weekend spat, you could zoom the combatants into a room and let them fight it out.

  • I actually only use it for work. People who I’d rather keep at a distance and prefer to keep just to set meetings.

It has been a godsend for our camera club and will continue to be until real meetings are reinstated.
