I planted my bulbs comparatively early this year around end of October.. most of them are sprouting but here in the north west the weather has turned very cold and we have had a few frosts already.. the growth has clearly stunted..
My indoor daffodils on the other hand have started flowering a month ago.. started with paperwhite, then grand soleil d’or and finally Erlicheer.
I have decided that I do like paperwhite’s scent after all.. the strongest of all three.
Grand soleil d’or is probably my least favourite.. only three out of five bulbs flowered.. the scent is weak and forgettable and the blooms just seem very ordinary..
And my favourite of all three - Erlicheer. I love the double petal arrangement and the scent is medium. I think it’s the prettiest of all three, the colour is exquisite.
@strelitzia32 There’s something for everyone in the world of horticulture after all ☺️ My hyacinths are now coming along nicely.. fingers crossed they’ll be ready for Christmas
My friend bought some plastic daffs and at night he would plant them by his front door where they were a distance from the pavement and spend ages discussing with passer bys how he was able to grow them very early in the season !
Apologies friends.
Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.
The first flowers of both varieties appeared on 20.01, so 109 days after planting the bulbs. And at least a third of them is ready to open, probably within a week.
Pictures taken today, as yesterday the weather was just too miserable 😖
By the way... I'd be grateful if Narcissus Tazetta PaperWhite owners would answer the poll I created on the forum a few days ago here: Paperwhite Narcissus: sweet or foul smell?

A lot of my outdoor ones are starting to poke their noses up, but fully expecting growth to stop now we're getting daily temps below 5 degrees.
No daffodils until after Xmas, please!
