Thanks for keeping us informed, @celcius_kkw . Never mind the "smell", those flowers are lovely. Not sure why you're not getting more stems with flowers, but the bulbs look pretty crammed in their pot/vase. ;)

Beautiful! I'd wear a nose peg and feast my eyes on them
  • @Papi Jo I saw a lot of videos advising people to cram as much as possible into containers to get a fuller effect... I wonder if I may have overdone it..

@sarinka that conjured up a rather vivid comical image.. haha!
  • Just to continue the observations... Exactly 5 weeks after planting the early bulbs- the first ones appeared on the surface. The race is on. 😄

Narcissus Cedric Morris is generally regarded as the first to flower outdoors, usually sometime in December. It is however hard to obtain.

And so expensive @Punkdoc, I knew it was very sought after but was quite surprised at the price. perhaps it doesn't propagate well.

My narcissus 'Paperwhite Ziva' have just started flowering in the garden. About one month earlier than usual.

  • I once got Daffs to flower in November - which is late Spring here - I think it was Tete-à-Tete. I bought them in August then took them to Brazil (my second home) and kept them in the fridge for another 6 weeks, before planting them out in a pot. I tried to do it again by keeping them in the fridge after the leaves had died back. It didn't work. Good luck.

I have a Paperwhite in flower in my garden in Devon, bought in an assorted bag about 5 years ago.
  • Ok, exactly 10 weeks after planting. The more advanced ones are mostly Spring Dawn.
So far we have hardly have any frost this year and it seems to stay like that until Christmas.
It’s only 2 weeks until Christmas, will we get at least one flower until then? Stay tuned.
