It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Only just joined and I come across what could only be called "trolling".  Will I like this forum?

My home grown and home trained lollipop bay is hardy here in Norfolk, where the winter winds whistle straight across from the Urals.  We do bubble wrap the terra-cotta pot to protect it from frost. The tree is tough as old boots provided it has the correct drainage.

I don't think there is any "trolling" on this thread - just a case of what others think and have experienced which is the whole idea of the Forum.  None of us will ever know about every single aspect of gardening but what I don't know or you don't know, you can bet someone on here will and be more than happy to pass on their expertise.
If you are happy to accept that, I'm sure you will like it on here and be able to contribute in the future :)

Oh well - we'll all just leave you  to it then  :)
Yeah get back in your box @Fairygirl 😂
Fairies don't live in boring old boxes @TheGreenMan - surely they live under Toadstools or in tiny caves with a posh little front door :D
  • Hello, thanks for your replies to my question. I appreciate the info. 😊 I left the tree in its pot for a year to see if it would rejuvenate but sadly, it didn’t so put it in the garden waste bin. The other bay tree we have is thriving in a bigger container and sunnier position.

    I beg to differ.

Dove.  It only takes one bad winter.

Frost in January iin Norfolk s one thing, frost in late May in Surrey is another.

I took two Belgian-grown mop-head bay trees back to Belgium.  They were killed in the first November sub-zero temperatures whilst I was in England at half term.

I also protect the pots, but have never had a root killed.

I didn’t say anything about frost in January … I would swear that we had hard frosts here well into May this year … and my records certainly show that … but I expect you know better. 🙄
