Hi folks, Cooler her today we had a torrential downpour last night and another short shower today so everything has been well watered. I've been out this morning deadheading and feeding the pots. I'm still very anxious about Secondborn. She's seeing a house on Friday (the second one she has viewed) and hopes to put a rental deposit down this weekend. Hubby is going to Turkey for almost three weeks on Tuesday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything stays calm while he's away.
Firstborn and her Hubby are busy fielding calls from distraught students who have been given the most rediculous grades. They had A's in their mocks and were predicted A's or A* in their final exams and have been given C's and D's it just doesn't make sense.
Just woken up on the sofa from a very deep sleep.......have been asleep for around 2 hours. 😣 We had an absolute downpour around 1 o'clock, only lasted about 10 minutes though. There were a few rumbles of thunder but it sounded miles away and that was it. Still very hot, but at least a don't have to water the garden 😉 Hope everything works out for your daughter Yvie
Yvie - I really feel for the youngsters with such important exam results coming through at the moment. Must be very distressing for some of them, their parents and their teachers. I do hope schools can return to something resembling normal functioning next month.
It’s quite a bit fresher here today but we’ve still had no rain at all despite all the yellow warnings for thunderstorms. Thought it felt a tad chilly when I stepped outside. Then I checked the thermometer and it’s still nearly 28C in the shade! Just goes to show how quickly we adapt to the extreme temperatures.
The hottest I’ve ever experienced was about 42C in Palm Desert - but that was a very dry heat and nowhere near as unpleasant as the hot & humid stuff we’ve had this week. The coldest was -26C in Northern Norway last year but, even then, it was dry and sunny and it only got a bit painful if you stood still for too long or took your gloves off! And the sheer beauty of all that crunchy, squeaky, pure white snow took your mind off it.
Happy days - hope we can go back some time.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I'll see you all tomorrow and give you the answers to both quizzes then. Not seen ANte or Island today. Maybe Ante has been harvesting again and Island is busy with her knitting. Have a good evening everyone.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
LB, I wasn't at cottage today. Here is so unbearable weather so didn't have will to read or write anything. It must be shok for all neighbours when the lightning stroke that house.
Like T'bird said, it's so hot and humid at the same time and forecast is same for 10 more days. Maybe some short shower at Saturday. I fell asleep this afternoon and woke up all wet and sticky 😠. I'm glad that some of you had a cooler day.
Still so very hot, hoping it will rain tonight and clear the air. Very quiet on here tonight. Are you all watching anything decent on TV or are you all in your gardens enjoying a G&T
