It is so hot and damp here ,that I feel as though I am in a sauna . Planted out some Summer flowering bulbs that were growing in a pot . Forgot all about them .Waiting for the delivery of a china mug that I treated myself to .Heavy mugs make my wrist ache .I have some lovely ones but they are either too big or too heavy .
I have had three Ginger  Lily roots for about ten years . They have done absolutely nothing . No matter where  I have planted them no shoots have appeared. In fact when I dig them up (by accident ) they are no different from when I first bought them .That is ,like three lumps of very hard wood . Absolutely no deterioration in their condition .One of them I cut in half three years ago . The two halves remain completely solid .Any ideas please . I will post this on another thread if you like me haven’t a clue what’s going on .Thank you , in  frustrated anticipation .

Afties all. As it was drier towards lunch time I decided to walk to the garage to pick up my car when I got the phone call to say it was ready. It only takes 45 minutes. Car was passed as OK but I was told that the rear tyres were getting to the limit. I had noticed that when I washed it yesterday. Anyway, I've asked him to price up some new tyres for me. Sorry Ruby, I know very little about Hedychiums only that they need good drainage and shallow planting. After 10 years I think I would have given up. I have grown ginger plants from fresh ginger but to be honest they are not really worth the effort.

    Good Afternoon All,
Island I think we’ve just had the same weather as you, we've had a deluge of rain for about an hour that should do some good,
LB Gosh your nephew will be a natural with horses, love the story about Shorty they have their own personalities just the same as any animal. My friends horse Bandit was a loveable rogue.
Yvie You’re right about the cost of riding, I was lucky that my bestie had her own horse who I helped out with. Your dad’s view was very traditional, it’s good that somethings have changed in that respect. I hope your headache goes away, take it easy.
Rosie I agree I hope there is some positive news to come soon,
Rubee Hope the new China mug arrives safely, you’ll have to try it out straight away of course ☕️ I hope you can get the advice to help with growing Ginger,
Sorry LB I couldn’t get any of those quiz answers but well done to those who did.
    Have a nice afternoon everyone.
  •  Well. I thought I had six cats. I am sitting abed..... catless. Usually there are two or more cats with me but my home has become a cat "b and b" or rather a supper bar. . They will finally demand to come in for food, eat fast, then out again.  As they each get a piece of raw chicken daily I am keeping a mental note of who has eaten what.

It is very.... far too... intensely.. quiet and dull without them! One, Selkie, has a timetable that runs on 72 hours. ie she stays out for that time, then comes in and stays 72 hours. Due in tonight. Rescue cats are like that.  Crazy but so loving.

And I cannot leave the door open etc as there is a nasty old stinky tomcat at the other end of the island.

LB yes I like the story of Shorty too, charming story.  Chive it’s been quite sunny this afternoon, although I’m hoping for more rain.  Island cats are such lovely companions.

Island, do you ever find that some of your cats are opprtunists and they come in, eat, go out for a bit and then come back in pretending they haven't eaten to have another helping? Little do they realise we can recognise them all by their colours or personalities.
Hey Rosie, no need to apologise. The Quizzes are just for fun.
