I thought it was another run of the mill show with little to enthuse about. I for one would not be disappointed if they dropped the viewers’ gardens clips; I have seen very, very little that I would want to emulate and most of the tips are very basic. And I know it is sour grapes but how are the producers duped into showing clips of little garden merit save for having shots of the garden owners’ children?
I think the intention behind the viewers' clips is as much about making the programme accessible to folk taking up gardening for the first time due to being furloughed, getting people to feel involved and communicating and trying to get rid of the slightly elitist image of Gardeners' World that so many folk feel that Monty et al have engendered.
Listening to conversations amongst younger neighbours with families as they walk past, I think the programme has succeeded in that aim at least.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Spot on @Dovefromabove a wider variety of voices on the programme can only be a positive (and that comes from someone who can't stand children). When you have to appeal to such a heterogeneous viewer base as they are you can't please everyone. But this new direction has added a new element on the side of the privileged notion of what gardening is to people like Monty. No, not everyone has acres to garden on and certainly not the budgets associated with that amount of land. If it inspires even a handful of new people to look at their neglected patch and makes it more useful/pleasant then it's something we should all surely support. There's no one way to garden and nobody's experience of gardening is superior to anyone else's.
Oh Klink, how sad☹️ You will always find kindness here😐😁🌸
Perhaps i just don't do wind-up's very well.. Too many memories of unpleasantness from previous sites.
Totally understand Klinky, but you will find NO 'planks' here! Gardeners no matter how grand or how humble, want to make the world a better place for all to enjoy! We need your knowledge and your thoughts more than ever! Go to the HELP section, and help a fellow greenie chum👍Sending best Klinky
