SM done and dusted. Is it me or are people getting a little careless about SD'ing now we're all wearing masks? And people have started going in pairs again so lots of bored husbands hanging about getting in the way and doing nowt useful and using up somebody else's space in the store. Nearly told one bloke to bu$$er off. He seemed to have no idea about SD'ing and always managed to find the perfect spot to stand where he was in everbody's way. Best left in the car (unlike dogs of course).

    Sorry - rant over!

Chive - after a minor hiccup we've had the survey done for the windows and doors and they're now on order. Hoping they'll be done in October. We've changed our plans and are just replacing the front and one side of the house at the moment.  Might do the north facing back wall next year but the doors and windows on that face are in really good nick -  so we'll wait and see what it all looks like half done and half not. If we can get away with not doing the back wall we will - I can buy A LOT of plants with £10K...

Chive I too prefer the hanging to the hot flattening thing. Enjoy your time with your sister.   Mine came yester LB I love chives lovely on a baked potato with sour cream and chopped chives.  They are lovely when they flower.  Hazel enjoy your sons visit with 23.    47th anniversary and a lot of memories and family, such an achievement.  Topbird enjoy your day.  Lily hope you can still have your walks to the pond.  Wishing you all a good day.

Afties all. Ssshhhh its stopped r*****g! Hope you have had fun with 23 Hazel. Yep Chive, my lavender is ready for a haircut (just like me) and the smell is quite delicious. T'Bird, that sounds like a good idea. I have to say that my windows on the north side of the house are very resilient, whereas on the south side where they get all the sunshine, they have failed more often, In fact the one in my office (grandiose term for the smallest bedroom which is used as my office) has blown and needs replacing. I'll get round to it eventually.

  • Catching up is too hard... But I remembered a mouse story from way back. I was sitting at the computer, felt I was being watched, and there it was, a wee mouse sitting atop the printer. He refused to be scared off so finally I picked him up by the tail and took him outside... Next day there was a plague of mice so he clearly went home and told all his family what a lovely person I am! I am not in the least scared of mice or even rats. Maybe as i kept gerbils for years. At another rental a mouse ran across my pillow! That was very bold ( a strong word in Ireland!) and that one got evicted.

News from my faith family in Canada is of black bears in the garden eating the fruit before hibernation. One of the dogs was playing with one. They are fearless  this year as there is so little traffic and few folk around.

Seeing the news is hard; we are holding firm  here.
. No deaths for a while now. I am really in the safest place in the safest country.

    Stay safe! Stay well!
  • PS the yellow rose was anonymous from a pound shop here. My mother loved yellow flowers so I started always having one, in a container and as one had got broken in a move... Best euro I spent in a long while.

Afties Island. How are you feeling today? Hope you are a bit stronger. I am not frightened at all of mice or rats but I would prefer that they stayed outside. There were none in the humane traps this morning so maybe it has got the message. Do you ever get the feeling you are being watched? Look at this cheeky young blackbird who was eyeballing me through the kitchen window from my window box.

  • Topbird; thank you re the weblog.    The ocean and sky and all here are so lovely. Even in terrible storms there is nowhere I would rather live.   Hate leaving it at all; until hospital I had "been over" as they say for nearly two years. If you see the photo of the fuchsia I posted, that is how near the north facing Atlantic this place is. So I try to pass on the peace and loveliliness.

Bedtime here already. to many typos!

    Afternoon,
T’bird yes I agree with you attitudes have changed since the mask enforcement people are bunching up in some aisles. Under the previous rules there were some sneaky couples each coming in with a trolley so they could shop together, I’m happy to go alone even under normal circumstances 😀 Pleased you’ve got your order underway now, having one area of the house done makes a lot of sense then you can see how it looks, it’s such a big investment.
LB What a cheeky little face at your window, that’s a new twist on bird watching 🙂  The green bin now smells fab, I’ve kept some of the flowers for mum to put in a lavender bag, do you use any of yours?
Rosie yes I had another load to do today, it’s a boring job that one,
Hope you are feeling improved Island, goodnight to you,
Dinner time again must feed the household, have a nice evening everyone.
