I never found they worked. Nothing does - apart from the scarecrow, and they're a problem as soon as there's a frost.
You have my sincere sympathy @jimbrown1953
If you wait long enough - some people will suggest you get a dog. Hilarious.
or a cat of your own!!!!!!!!

    I know @Hostafan1!
To avoid picking up sh*t, you get another animal, and you then have to pick up it's sh*t.
    Brilliant  :D
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

and of course the extra animal will never sh*t in anyone else's garden.

The levels of delusion, ignorance , denial and  lack of empathy of SOME cat owners is breathtaking.

Fairygirl.. well one of the neighbours does have a dog but the cats still take a tour through their garden too..
I am convinced that neither a dog or marketed gadgets work as a deterrent to these unsociable so called pet cats that are more like Ferrell..

So for us it’s Jeys Fluid which is extremely strong smelling and great for over powering the Ferrell’s disgusting smelly foul waste.. But also because at the moment it does appear to be reducing their visits to our front garden..

Not ideal for pets but we don’t have pets so not my problem if someone’s Ferrell cats decide to get it on their pads.. Again it’s up to the pet owners to start acting responsible and allow their pests to foul in their own garden and not others..

I used to live next to a family who had 13 cats, besides other animals. I have nothing against pets but I had a big problem with the cats fouling in my garden. I used to scoop it up in a scoop and throw it back, I got so tired of it and it turned my stomach. I was always having to check the garden before letting my children out there. I resulted in using Jeyes Fluid it was the only thing that actually deterred them.
It’s a real pain when you enjoy your garden so much

I'd have reported them to the RSPCA @teresa.allday, or the council

I did report them to the council, in fact a few neighbours did but nothing ever came of it.
We ended up moving because it got me down so much.
Someone suggested I get a cat but I had a son with a serious heart problem (and I say “had” because he’s no longer with us) and pets would have been a huge problem to him.

I read back through a post from a few years ago and a great idea that a guy came up with of which we’re going to try in addition to our Jeys Fluid spraying..
The post mentioned using spent tea bags soaked in Jeys Fluid and placing them around the garden.. Yup sounds good to me and even better a lady has mentioned placing them in used yoghurt/ desert pots soaked in Jeys Fluid.. excellent idea and will definitely try that out too..

I think those disgusting Ferrell Cat Pests are going to be smelling of Jeys Fluid for a long time if they come back..

    JimBrown,
I feel your pain. It’s great that you now have your back garden fenced off and protected but if the neighbour with the cats had done that to their garden it would have saved everyone else the problem (And expense) of having to do it.

Most cat owner are in total denial and invariably too selfish and  see no reason why THEY should spend money to alleviate inconvenience to others, let alone the wildlife.
